Hollywood movies like The Hangover tend to perpetuate the idea that you can just show up at a location and have a “surprise” wedding. However, in order for your marriage to be legal, you’ll need the proper documentation. This is why Maverick Helicopters cannot accommodate surprise weddings; there is an important step you must take before your destination helicopter wedding can take place.
Obtaining a Nevada Marriage License
To get married in Nevada, you will need a Nevada marriage license. The good news is the Clark County Marriage License Bureau is open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. to midnight. In addition, Nevada has no waiting period between when you apply for a license and when you receive it. This means you can get married on the same day you apply for the license, which needs to be done in person at the bureau located at 201 E. Clark Avenue Las Vegas, NV 89101
A marriage license in Las Vegas costs $77 and can be paid for with cash, credit card, traveler's check, cashier's check or money order. Because this is a legal document, it must be filled out by both parties. Both parties will also need to provide their Social Security number and proper identification (driver's licenses, passports, military identification cards, etc.). You can find more information about rules and requirements here.
