Colors & Canyons Tour Review

A helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon is the ideal way to see this spectacular landmark, since it offers unparalleled views and creates a memory to last a lifetime.

Maverick Helicopters’ Colors & Canyons Tour departs from the Scottsdale and Phoenix area in style, with stops and sights along the way and on the return trip.

“The highlight of our vacation”

Richard and Liz Sumner from Shropshire, England enjoyed their tour so much, they offered the following review:

Tour: Grand Canyon Colors & Canyons Tour

Comments: My wife and I traveled Route 66 over a 21-day period in May 2016. We had a two-night stop at Flagstaff, so we booked a flight over the Grand Canyon. It was the highlight of our vacation – the only way to see and fully appreciate the grandeur of the Canyon.

Our pilot was Jake. His knowledge of the history and structure of the Canyon was superb and fully added to the experience. He’s a credit to the company.

This tour is a MUST DO if you ever get the chance. We would fully recommend Maverick Helicopter as a very professional company with some very comfortable and upmarket choppers. Many thanks, Jake. We’ve almost worn the DVD out, and we’ve posted a similar piece on TripAdvisor.

What you’ll see and do on the Colors & Canyons Tour

This Grand Canyon tour starts with beautiful views of the Sonoran Desert and the red rocks of Sedona during the ground tour provided by Detours. You’ll be able to take plenty of photos while seeing uptown Sedona and Oak Creek Canyon. You can also pick-up a picnic lunch at a local restaurant to enjoy later at the Grand Canyon National Park.

Once your tour reaches the Grand Canyon, you’ll be able to experience this magnificent wonder from the air as well as on the ground. The tour offers access to spectacular views of the canyon’s rim, as well as Dragon Corridor, the widest, deepest part of the Grand Canyon. And you’ll have plenty of time to explore, shop, and enjoy your lunch with a view.

The return trip to Phoenix and Scottsdale provides views of the Navajo Nation and Painted Desert, complete with a stop at a Navajo trading post.
