Wild LifeSpend some time on the wild side of Las Vegas. Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat at The Mirage offers the family a chance to interact with the property’s bottlenose dolphins, white tigers, white lions and leopards. A child’s (ages 4 to 12) all-day Adventure Pass, which allows for reentry up to 5:30 p.m., is only $17. Mandalay Bay’s Shark Reef is home to an array of aquatic creatures, including saw fish, giant rays, endangered green sea turtles, piranha, jellyfish and the rare golden crocodile. There are more than 2,000 animals in total. Admission for children ages 4 to 12 is $19 and includes access to Polar Journey, a special attraction boasting “eight interactive scenes that include films, touch walls, teaching robot penguins, a simulated ice flow and a 270-degree CGI film with motion simulator.” Bundle these two Vegas attractions with either the Big Apple Coaster at New York-New York, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibit at Luxor or Adventuredome at Circus Circus for only $57.
Digital LifeIf you find yourself at Circus Circus, be sure to pay a visit to ESC Game Theater, an immersive gaming experience in which dozens of players using touchscreen controllers compete together on one massive screen with concert lighting and sound synchronized to the gameplay. Two hours of unlimited gaming at ESC Game Theater is only $10. Similarly, Downtown Grand hosts eSports tournaments every Friday and Saturday between 4 p.m. and midnight for the older kids. An entry fee of $15 per tournament, depending on the game, is due upon entry. Younger gamers might enjoy some time at Fremont Arcade. More of a straight ahead arcade, this downtown staple houses a host of games, including pinball, Skee-Ball, stand-up arcade games and arcade basketball. Families can take advantage of Fremont Arcade’s token specials and group discounts.
Night LifeMost of Vegas’ nightlife is for adults, but there are plenty of shows and nighttime activities perfect for children. Blue Man Group at Luxor is one such show. The energetic, percussive performance is guaranteed to add some color to your evening. Specially priced children’s tickets start at $53. If you want to take your family vacation to new heights, High Roller at The Linq is a unique way to see the sights of the Las Vegas Strip. Youth tickets are $9 during the day and $19 after sunset. If that still isn’t enough altitude for you, book your seats aboard Maverick Helicopters’ Vegas Nights, a nighttime flight over Downtown Las Vegas and the Strip. Make your vacation one for the record books for only $99 a person.
Fast LifeFor the adventurous set, there are numerous Vegas attractions eager to sate that need for speed. Flightlinez Bootleg Canyon features four zip line runs stretching more than 1.5 miles. Children 12 and younger can soar high above the Mojave Desert at speeds in excess of 60 mph starting at $99. Experience the thrill of indoor go-kart racing at Pole Position. Children under 56 inches tall can take the high-torque electric karts for a few laps around the 1/4-mile track for $22.
Quiet LifeLas Vegas hasn’t forgotten about the younger children. Discovery Children’s Museum, located on the gorgeous, 61-acre Symphony Park campus, houses a variety of engaging interactive exhibits your children will love, such as Water World and Mystery Town. Current Association of Children’s Museums members receive free admission to Discovery Children’s Museum. Outdoorsy kids will love Springs Preserve, a sprawling nature park encompassing the Vegas Valley’s natural springs that once sustained a bustling Native American community nearly 5,000 years ago. The entire family can explore the valley's vibrant history through interactive science and nature exhibits, a botanical garden, hiking trails and live animal shows. Children ages 5 to 17 receive admission to the nature preserve for $10.95.
In addition to these great things to do in Vegas, Maverick Helicopters offers surprisingly affordable family outings in the form of exciting helicopter excursions over the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas Strip. For more fun Vegas recommendations, check out our Vegas Bucket List.
